Ex-Newcastle Midfielder Yohan Cabaye "Keen" On Alan Pardew Reunion At Crystal Palace
The Dreamboat is still loved on Tyneside - but his heart appears set on London...
Newcastle United supporters would love to see Yohan Cabaye back on Tyneside - but the midfielder is longing for a reunion with Alan Pardew at Crystal Palace instead. The Sun claim Aston Villa have approached Paris Saint-Germain about Cabaye's availability, but that the midfielder has rebuffed Tim Sherwood's advances in favour of a £10 million switch to London. Cabaye, a 38-cap France international midfielder, moved to PSG from Newcastle in January 2014 for £20 million and has made 53 appearances and won two Ligue 1 titles, two Coupe de la Ligue trophies and a Coupe de France since. However, his international prospects have been damaged due to the fact he is being utilised primarily off the bench - and he was even dropped from a couple of recent France squads. The 29-year-old is therefore exploring his options and, with Newcastle failing to come calling to bring him back to Tyneside so far, it appears a move to south London could be on the cards. Not only is Cabaye keen to join up with his former boss Pardew, the former Lille midfielder is also said to have his heart set on living in London - and that is another reason why he will likely choose Palace over Villa. Cabaye signed for Newcastle from Lille for £4.5 million in the summer of 2011 and went on to make 93 appearances for the Magpies, scoring 18 goals. A firm fans' favourite in the North East - he was dubbed "Dreamboat" by supporters - the Toon faithful would love nothing more than to see him return, but Newcastle are yet to show any interest in the midfielder despite supposedly having a "war chest" to spend this summer.
