Most Expensive Spurs XI That Failed To Deliver

1. Sergei Rebrov (£11 Million)

In the year 2000, Spurs smashed their then transfer record by signing Ukrainian international striker Sergei Rebrov for £11 million from Dynamo Kiev. He arrived with a big reputation, having formed a famous and formidable strike partnership with the legendary Andrei Shevchenko at both club and international level. However, in 59 Premier League games for Spurs, 37 of which were starts, Rebrov only managed ten league goals. His time at White Hart Lane saw him twice shipped out on loan to Turkish side Fenerbahce and he would eventually sign for Spurs€™ Premier League rivals West Ham United, for free, in 2004. £11 million well spent he was not and he certainly didn't deliver the goods expected of him. So there you have it - the most expensive Spurs eleven that simply failed to deliver (that team came to £148.8 million, for the record). Did you enjoy this article?
