Sometimes during a summer where the in's and out's of a club has dominating front and back page news, it can be easy to simply forget those current personnel at the club. This may appear to be the case with Jermain Defoe. Having seen Roberto Soldado arrive at the Lane and nail down a, so far, permanent birth as the focal point of the Spurs attack, Defoe has most of his season action in the cup competition when Soldado has been rested. He has however managed 3 substitute appearances in the League, but his performances and goals in the Europa League have seemingly been ignored and doesn't justify a starting berth in the Premier League according to manager André Villas Boas. In fact, a barometer of how Soldado has dominated proceedings can be seen on the Tottenham section on the 'Transfers' page: he has got 27 points which is exactly 9 times more than his next competitor up front- which happens to be Defoe. So, while AVB is blooding his new recruits in to what looks like a 4-2-3-1 formation, it increasingly looks in the league at least that the England frontman is only a regular fixture on the bench. My advice is if you do have a Fantasy Europa League team on any website, stick Defoe in as he will score goals and appear in games, but for the purposes of this article, do the exact opposite and take him out. He is only going to continue to plummet in value and leave the 0.8% of you frantically searching for an adequate replacement whilst others have already taken this step. Which other players have been a disappointment and will be taken out of your team immediately? Comment below if you do.
