9. Don't Ignore Promoted Teams

One of the simplest traps that many fantasy players tend to fall into is ignoring the lower-ranked teams, especially the promoted sides. They assume that the best strategy is to try and assemble a squad of players from the top six, even if that means taking players who aren't even likely to play all that much.

This is a big mistake. If we look back to the statistics from last season, several promoted players were among the best fantasy performers of the year. For example, Brighton's Pascal Gross got more points than Manchester United's Romelu Lukaku!

Huddersfield's Jonas Lössl and Brighton's Mathew Ryan were among the best performing keepers. Newcastle's Ayoze Pérez outperformed Chelsea's big money signing Alvaro Morata. Huddersfield's Aaron Mooy got more points than Mesut Özil, and there are several other examples of promoted players who had great fantasy seasons.

All of this proves that players shouldn't be assembling their squads based purely on names, reputation, and 'big club bias'. The promoted squads have a lot of talent this season, like Fulham's Ryan Sessegnon and Wolves' Diogo Jota. Promoted teams often have to do a lot of defending too, so grabbing one of their goalies isn't a bad idea.
