8. Value! Value! Value!

The key concept of any fantasy game is value, but some people tend to misunderstand what this word actually means. It's not just about finding cheap players who can supply a good amount of points; it's all about the amount of points a player can provide in relation to his price.

Mohamed Salah, for example, is the most expensive player in the game right now at £13m, but last season he racked up almost 100 points more than Kevin De Bruyne, who is priced at £10m. Mathematically speaking, though Salah costs more, he still provides better value than De Bruyne because you're getting more points per million spent.

A clearer example would be a comparison between Christian Eriksen and Eden Hazard. Eriksen (£9.5m) earned 199 points last season, while Hazard (£10.5) earned 173. Not only is Eriksen cheaper, he's also providing more points and a lot more value.

Of course, football is unpredictable and this season won't play out the same way the last one did, but last season's stats do at least provide a decent starting point in helping to work out a player's potential value. The key to fantasy is to make the most of your budget, trying to get the most points possible for every million you spend.
