The worst situation for any fantasy manager is to be heading into a set of fixtures with half a dozen injuries in your squad. An injured player is quite literally of no use to you, completely unable to provide any points and hogging a spot in your squad that could be providing a lot more value.

The official Fantasy Premier League site does inform players of injuries, but isn't always the most accurate. It's vital to stay in the loop with regard to injury news, and there are dozens of ways to do this. Various sites, sports news channels, and social media networks provide up-to-date injury info so you know exactly who's out and how long they'll be gone for.

However, the key here isn't just to keep track of injury news and remove players from your team accordingly, but also to look at players' track records when building your squad at the start of the season. Some players, like Man City's Vincent Kompany, Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge, and West Ham's Jack Wilshere, just tend to get injured more often than others and might not be worth the risk in the first place.
