Even though Newcastle are likely to absorb a lot of pressure this season as Rafa Benitez seeks a pragmatic footballing style aimed at survival rather than spectacular performances, they do still have the key to some great attacking play in their squad already.

They're probably missing a striker, but Dwight Gayle has proved himself clinical and his link-up with the likes of Jonjo Shelvey and Matt Ritchie last year was delightfully fruitful. He scored 5 goals and added 8 assists as the cherry on top of 86 chances created, and his slightly low goals haul wasn't for the want of trying (he shot a huge 93 times over the season) and if he can get his shooting boots on, Newcastle and his stats should benefit.

It's more likely that Newcastle will rely on Shelvey to be the key to quick counter attacking play - in a sort of evolved quarter-back role - and his range of passing is such that you should see him dropping balls over the top for the likes of Gayle, Jacob Murphy and Christian Atsu to chase a lot in the coming months.

Adding his set-piece prowess and you've got a solid points scorer for an absolute steal of a price.
