10. Jose Fonte (Southampton) £5.5m

Last Season's Points Total: 149. Last season - a season in which Southampton had defenders like Luke Shaw, Dejan Lovren and Calum Chambers amongst their ranks - Jose Fonte was still the Saints' highest-scoring defender by quite some margin and the seventh highest scoring defender overall. This season, you can look at his situation in one of two ways; first, their departures could be detrimental to Southampton, they could perform poorly and, as a result, the points of their defenders will reflect that, or second, you could see Fonte as their new main man at the back and, as a result, he'll step up his game even more so and earn more points than last season. Either way, at £5.5 million he's worth a punt and we believe that, under the leadership of legendary Dutch defender Ronald Koeman, he'll improve anyway. Last season, he scored three goals as well, which always helps.
