Now I don't like to blow my own trumpet, but a month ago in a discussion with a couple of friends I tipped Olivier Giroud to have a top season- and so far, he hasn't disappointed. With an unbelievable 25 points from his first 3 games, including 3 goals, Giroud has had a storming start to the season and he will only get better with the influence of Mesut Ozil, Arsenal's new signing from Real Madrid. It's over to the other side of North London that we must venture to, to uncover the opposite end of the scale when it comes to the points total of strikers. Jermain Defoe- unappreciated by Andre Villas-Boas has managed to accumulate just 2 point in the 3 games he has featured him, giving him an average of 0.66 points per game, a ridiculous amount for an £8.2 million striker. Another striker that hasn't started the season very well is Papiss Cisse of Newcastle United. The £8.6 million poacher has earned just 6 points so far this season and his lack of goals has contributed to the fact that Newcastle currently sit just 12th in the Barclays Premier League, on a goal difference of -3. After an unbelievable opening weekend, Robin van Persie's Manchester United sit just 7th after drawing blanks in their last two games, and that doesn't bode well for the most expensive player on the fantasy football transfer market. Fellow manager, @NathanJamesLowe, believes that Van Persie is a waste of money at the moment and more money could be spent elsewhere without having to weaken your team in other areas to accommodate his hefty fee.
