Freddie Shepherd Nominates Mike Ashley For Ice Bucket Challenge

Ousted chairman challenges arch-nemesis to get wet.

In a tongue-in-cheek move perfectly fitting his reputation, former Newcastle United chairman Freddy Shepherd - once responsible for some of the best and worst moments in NUFC business history - has nominated current owner Mike Ashley to do the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. https://www.facebook.com/AllNewcastleUnitedFCFans/posts/766900536709045 The pair have considerable history after Shepherd saw the club sold out from under him to Ashley back in 2007, and having been a vocal critic of the Sports Direct supremo's handling of the club since. And Shepherd clearly couldn't resist letting a little animosity creep into his nomination: "I've donated Mike, so why don't you?!" Meanwhile, Newcastle's free-kick expert/best friend of the fitness team Ryan Taylor did his own ice bucket challenge with help from Gael Bigirimana and an unnecessarily shirtless Haris Vuckic, nominating Alan Pardew... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqdwQ4MIsy8 And not to be outdone, Newcastle legends Alan Shearer and Rob Lee did their own... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRg6GiXnmu4 It's presumably only a matter of time before the entire NUFC team does their bit for the ALS cause, but whether Mike Ashley answers the call or not remains to be seen.
