Fulham Transfer News: Dimitar Berbatov Snubs Spurs To Join Monaco

Fulham striker Dimitar Barbatov has joined Monaco on loan until the end of the season, according to the BBC. A photo of the 32-year-old holding the famous red jersey has been doing the rounds on micro-social networking site Twitter while Fulham's website confirmed the move. Berbatov had been linked with a return to his former club Tottenham but he will now see out the remainder of the season in France's Ligue 1, after he snubbed a move back to Tottenham, as revealed by the MailOnline. Spurs had been in the hunt to re-sign their former star, six years after he left White Hart Lane for Manchester United in 2008 in a big-money move. Berbatov scored 48 goals in 108 appearances for the Red Devils between 2008 and 2012 but was sold to Fulham for an undisclosed fee after five years at Old Trafford. The striker went on to score 19 times in 51 appearances for Fulham and leaves the Cottagers in a difficult position, the Londoners currently 19th in the league table and two points from safety. The Bulgarian has been brought in by Monaco manager Claudio Ranieri as cover for the injured Radamel Falcao, after the Colombian sustained a serious knee injury. Monaco are second in Ligue 1, six points adrift of defending champions Paris Saint-Germain. Berbatov will wear the No.15 jersey for the French club.
