Graeme Jones is New Swansea Manager?

Bookies have suspended betting on Graeme Jones becoming the new manager of Swansea City. 42-year-old Jones, who has been assistant manager to Roberto Martinez at both Wigan Athletic and before that Swansea City, will replace Liverpool bound Brendan Rodgers with immediate effect. Swansea City have yet to comment on Rodgers' replacement but there are widespread reports that the appointment of Jones will be made swiftly. Jones was actually one of the frontrunners for the vacancy when Brendan Rodgers originally got the job two years ago after former manager Paulo Sosa quit for Leicester City. Not only that but he had already previously turned down the Liberty Stadium job when Martinez left for Wigan earlier, opting to follow his manager to the Latics as his number two. Jones is a very popular figure at Swansea and has strong ties at the club where he enjoyed winning promotion from League One in 2008 as champions and in their first season back in the Championship they were close to play-off success. It was revealed earlier today that Swansea had accepted a £5 million compensation package from Liverpool to allow Brendan Rodgers to move to Merseyside, taking three of his backroom staff with him.
