Graeme Jones Swansea Manager Talks Break Down

Swansea City's talks with Wigan assistant Graeme Jones about becoming their next manager have broken down.

Sky Sports News reports that Swansea City's talks with Wigan assistant Graeme Jones about becoming their next manager have broken down. Swansea had signalled their own former assistant as their first choice candidate to replace Brendan Rodgers who departed this week to become the new Liverpool boss. Chairman Huw Jenkins had made an official approach for Jones and informal talks had begun but reports are these have now broken down. 42-year-old Jones has already turned down the job of managing the South Wales club before, deciding to follow former Swans boss Roberto Martinez to Wigan as his assistant, a job he still holds. Swansea believe Jones played a huge role in Swansea's development into the possession based, passing side they began to develop under Martinez in his two years in charge from 2007 to 2009 and which Brendan Rodgers carried on and was so successful with in their first season in the Premier League. However it seems Jones has reservations about taking on a managerial position and is happy working alongside Martinez at Wigan.
