Haris Vuckic Wants To Fight For NUFC Place - So Why's He At Rangers?

As Newcastle United try to cobble together enough bodies to be able to put out a starting XI to face West Bromwich Albion at St James' Park, one player who is still on their books admits he longs to "force" his way into the Magpies first team - yet Haris Vuckic finds himself out on loan at Scottish Championship side Rangers. The 22-year-old Slovenian international has scored nine goals and contributed two assists in 16 matches from attacking-midfield for the Gers since moving on transfer deadline day in January. In theory one of five Magpies squad members sent out on loan north of the border, Vuckic has admitted that he intends to return to St James' Park and fight for his first-team place next season. And that begs the question: Why isn't he still at his parent club?

If Vuckic were on Tyneside, he would be another body who could be thrust into the first team and hopefully contribute to the survival battle. When speaking to the Glasgow Evening Times, Vuckic explained:

"I intend to return to Newcastle when my loan deal is finished and force my way into the team there next season. I still have a year left on my contract. "But that is for the future. Just now, I am a Rangers player and my job is to play well for the club and help them to win matches. That is what I will try to do."
