How A World Football XI Might Look In 5 Years Time

Centre-Back - MARQUINHOS

Marquinhos signed for PSG for huge money from Roma in the summer of 2013, and the 20-year-old is seen as the natural successor to Thiago Silva for both club and country. His potential is vast. Although still just a squad player most of the time in France- Silva and, bafflingly, David Luiz, are coach Laurent Blanc's preferred centre-back pairing- you feel it's only a matter of time until the Brazilian seizes his chance and makes one of the regular spots at the back his own. Excellent on the ball and a terrific reader of the game, Marquinhos is at an age where physically he is still a little lightweight when he comes up against a bruising striker. His physique will naturally improve with time, and barring serious injury, there is little doubting that the former Corinthians man will have blossomed into one of the world's greatest centre-backs within the next two or three years. He is a potential Brazil captain of the future.
