How A World Football XI Might Look In 5 Years Time

Right-back - DANI CARVAJAL

In the most recent El Clasico showdown between Real Madrid and Barcelona at Santiago Bernabeu, much was made of the talent on show. For all the genius of Messi, Ronaldo et al, it was Carvajal, probably the least famous player on the pitch, who was the game's standout performer. The 22-year-old is becoming a world-class right-back, and looks set to make that role his own for both Los Blancos and Spain for many years to come. He is not dissimilar to Pablo Zabaleta in style, combining excellent defensive work with powerful attacking forays, and he plays with a maturity beyond his years. Carvajal may lack the flair of someone like Dani Alves, but he is an extremely effective full-back with a great future ahead of him. In 2019 he'll be at his peak. Paris Saint-Germain's Serge Aurier is also very impressive, but Carvajal has the edge.
