In-form Aston Villa were made to rue a number of missed chances in a well-contest match against Hull City as the Tigers held on to a 0-0 draw, which would have been Villa's third league win on the bounce. The visitors had a number of opportunities in the first-half but failed to make their pressure count - their best chance in the first half coming from Gabby Agbonlahor forcing a good save from 'keeper McGregor after hitting a low strike destined to nestle in the bottom corner. Villa were barely troubled by Hull City throughout the first 45 minutes, and may have felt they should have been ahead. However, the home side held on going into the break. More chances created and more chances missed for the Villans in the second-half, with Agbonlahor missing the target after being set up by Andreas Weimann. Still they remained by far the dominant side in the final stages of the game but didn't make it count. Substitute Tonev was guilty of profligacy in front of goal for Villa when there were better options to pick out in the box. His wide effort summing up the second half performance of both sides. Villa will feel they created enough to win the game, but were guilty of missing the target far too often in front of goal to ever trouble Hull City. It was a decent point for both sides, but not a game either club will remember in a hurry.
