Vurnon Anita is a different animal. He is a fantastic professional: if you ask him to play left-back, right-back, play in goalhe will play anywhere."
It's obvious what Carver is really saying here, showcasing little Vurn as the model professional that puts the team before his own ego. But seeing the words "Vurnon", "Anita", and "animal" in the same sentence just makes you laugh, doesn't it? In all fairness, Vurn was an absolute tank during the West Ham game last Sunday. Newcastle's number eight was actually pretty terrifying at times and he was here, there and everywhere, nipping at the heels of the giants in The Hammers' midfield. It was a performance that left you wondering if everything is OK in the Anita household at the moment. Vurnon certainly looked like he was letting off some steam during the game compared to how he has performed for much of his three years on Tyneside. He morphed from the proverbial rabbit in the headlights into a lion in less than a game.
