Kung-Fu Kicks, Trawlers & Seagulls - 7 Incredible Eric Cantona Moments

7. Volley Vs Liverpool

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvEHz96zrnM With four minutes to go in the 1996 FA Cup Final, Liverpool and Manchester United had battled out a 0-0 draw. Extra time loomed, it appeared, as the Full Time Whistle beckoned. Brian McClair and Steve Bruce, captain for Man United, were both missing through injury, and so Cantona was named as club captain prior to kick off. He delivered a Captain's performance in a game of few chances after Liverpool keeper David Jamed punched a corner out to the edge of the penalty area, only for it to fall at the feet of the Frenchman who unleashed an unstoppable volley into the back of the net to earn a famous 1-0 victory for his club. United became the first club to win the FA Cup nine times as a result, and the first club to win the league championship and FA Cup double on two occasions. As for Liverpool, the less said about the 1996 Final the better. Anyone remember those Emporio Armani cream coloured shell suits? Garish.
