Kung-Fu Kicks, Trawlers & Seagulls - 7 Incredible Eric Cantona Moments

2. Kung-fu Kickhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HC7LTZcNCI0 Cantona was known for scoring some of the greatest goals in the Premier League's formative years, but he was also notorious for his fiery, unpredictable attitude and patchy disciplinary records. In 1992, he spat on a Leeds fan in his first game at Elland Road in United colours and was handed a £1,000 FA fine. He was also red carded in a Champions League tie against Galatasary as United were eliminated from the competition in 1994, and was consecutively red carded in two Premier League games that same season against Swindon Town and Arsenal, picking up a five match suspension. The icing on the cake of controversy was to come in January 1995 however, when Cantona was handed yet another red card for kicking Crystal Palace defender Richard Shaw. As he was walking towards the tunnel, Cantona launched a 'kung-fu' style kick into the crowd, directed at Crystal Palace fan Matthew Simmons, followed by a series of punches that earned him an eight month suspension, as well be being stripped of the French captaincy as his career almost fell by the wayside in the lowest period of his professional life.
