Liverpool: 11 Best Ever Foreign Players From Premier League Era

10. Luis Javier García Sanz

Origin: Spain Bought From: Barcelona Bought By: Rafael Benitez Apps: 118 Honours: UEFA Champions League 2005, UEFA Super Cup 2005, FA Cup 2006, FA Community Shield 2006 Although García made only a small amount of appearances compared to some of the others on this illustrious list he was a huge hero of mine and many others during his spell at L4 which makes him a cert for this list. Firstly, there's that "ghost goal" - the cause of much pain for Chelsea fans who are absolute in their argument that the ball did not cross the line and therefore the goal should not have stood. He'd forever written himself into the hearts and DNA of all Liverpool supporters, and would never have been forgotten even if that had been his only kick in a Red shirt but he offered the Anfield faithful so much more than just this one goal. Remember the winning goal against Juventus in the quarter-final - one of the best Anfield goals ever? The three goals against Bayer Leverkusen in the Round of 16? And the Merseyside Derby he helped Liverpool win despite the Reds being reduced to ten men - scoring that beautiful lob with the outside of his left foot? If you remember these moments, Luis García is a complete legend despite his relatively low appearance record. He even scored the third goal in the Super Cup win of 2005 - just to add further gloss to his CV. So, just to clarify, we've got a Champions League winner, an FA Cup winner and a Super Cup winner who had a lovable smile and a flair for beautiful football matched by few. He is definitely one of LFC's greatest foreign imports. Thank you Rafa.
