Liverpool: 5 Reasons Reds Can Still Win The Premier League
3. Good Results From Tough Games
When the yearly fixture lists are releases, there are always games that fans will always know they're going to be tough: Stoke, Newcastle, Swansea and, since the arrival of Gus Poyet, even Sunderland away seem like daunting prospects. So far this season, Liverpool have pulled out some good performances on the road but the impressive thing about the Reds this year, is that they are getting points from games that in recent seasons they would have come away with nothing. Away at Newcastle, they went behind twice and fought back for a point and probably should have won if they had of been able to take their chances. Letting Stoke score three goals past you at the Britannia is often a surefire recipe for defeat - just ask Chelsea - but Liverpool managed to score five on possibly their best away day of the season so far. Perhaps the biggest example of Brendan Rodgers' style of play taking effect at Anfield is the 3-3 draw away to neighbours Everton. In what most fans are calling the most attacking derby in recent years Liverpool took the lead twice but found themselves 3-2 down going into the final minutes. Far too often they would have just crumbled and accepted defeat but on that Day Daniel Sturridge headed home to earn the away side a point. This sense of ambition and the added desire in tough fixtures is just another reason why Liverpool can't be ruled out of the title race.
