Liverpool Preparing £12 Million Transfer Bid For Luuk De Jong

The £12 million rated FC Twente striker has scored a whopping 30 goals in 46 appearances for Steve McClaren's side this season and is already on the radar of as many as 15 clubs.

€œLiverpool are following Luuk closely. But so are 15 other clubs. Three big clubs who played in the Champions League want to do a firm deal with Twente. €œWe€™ll see what cards we hold in a few weeks.€
Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is known to be a keen admirer of the Holland striker, who has appeared for his country seven times, and the Magpies boss believes he could be key to bolstering their attack for their European adventures next season. Liverpool meanwhile are a team in disarray and they know they need to strengthen next season if they want to challenge for a top four spot. An own goal from Martin Skrtel compounded Liverpool to another home defeat last night against Fulham, and the distractions of the FA Cup final this Saturday could end up seeing them fall as low as 10th by the end of the season. De Jong is under contract at Twente until 2014 but as the Erdeivisie side may even miss out on Europa League football this season, let alone Champions League, star assets like De Jong and defender Douglas (who Newcastle are also chasing, Pardew flying to Holland and watching him in Sunday's defeat at Ajax) will be looking for moves elsewhere.
