Liverpool Transfer News: £15.7m for Real Madrid's Jose Callejon

Liverpool are set to make a £15.7 million bid for Real Madrid striker Jose Callejon before the end of the summer transfer window.

According to Caughtoffside.com, Liverpool are set to make a £15.7 million bid for Real Madrid striker Jose Callejon before the end of the summer transfer window. The 25-year-old has enjoyed an impressive season at Real Madrid scoring 13 goals in 37 appearances but is reported to be interested in a move to the Premier League. Callejon played for Real Madrid's B and C team from the age of 15 to 21 but eventually made his way to Espanyol when he failed to break into the first team. Callejon made 106 appearances for Espanyol until last year when Real Madrid bought the player back for £3.8 million. The striker€™s second coming at the club has proved to be more successful but he has grown unsettled by interest from the Premier League. New Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is in search for a proven striker after a disappointing year for Andy Carroll and the departure of Dirk Kuyt and expected sale of Craig Bellamy. Rodgers would be taking a huge risk with spending the majority of his transfer budget on Callejon if Liverpool are forced to pay over £15 million although it is clear that they need goals.
