Liverpool Transfer News: Brendan Rodgers Eyeing Franco Di Santo?

Are Liverpool lining up a move for Franco di Santo?

Mirror. Liverpool have already agreed a £12million deal with Chelsea for forward Daniel Sturridge, and the addition of Santo would be welcome relief for Luis Suarez who has so far this season had to carry the team on his own back at times. Di Santo's contract is set to expire at Wigan at the end of the current season, and whilst the club were hopeful of keeping hold of the 23 year old Argentine, they fear the interest shown by Liverpool may be enough to turn his head. Rodgers - who knows Di Santo from their time together at Chelsea, is hopeful of landing the player on a free next summer. Di Santo has scored three times in ten appearances for Wigan so far this season. Manager Roberto Martinez will now make a move for another Argentine international - Leeds United forward Luciano Becchio. He is seeking a replacement as he looks to stave off relegation from the top flight. Becchio has been in fine form for Leeds in the Championship this season, scoring 17 times. However, Leeds boss Neil Warnock has insisted Becchio will not be allowed to leave when the transfer window reopens next month as he still has 18 months remaining on his current deal.
