Liverpool Transfer News: Diego Costa's £20 Million Release Clause Activated

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfn7DpCroJ0 Liverpool have triggered Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa's transfer release clause with a bid in excess of £20 million, according to Teamtalk. The Brazilian international striker, 24, made his debut for his country in March this year and is a powerful forward, standing 6'2" tall. He could be the lanky striker that the Anfield club hoped Andy Carroll would have been when he made the £35 million move to Merseyside in January 2011, but was unceremoniously sold to West Ham United this year. Costa netted 10 goals in La Liga this season but the Spanish club have perhaps expected to offload him before the new season as they have already acquired David Villa from Barcelona. Costa joined from Valldolid in 2010 and would become Liverpool's forth most expensive signing in the club's history after Andy Carroll (£35 million), Fernando Torres (£26 million) and Luis Suarez (£22.8 million). His potential signing would also place huge doubt in the future of Luis Suarez who has made it known he is keen to leave Anfield for a bigger club this summer, with big money offers from Arsenal so far being rebuffed by Brendan Rodgers' side.
