Liverpool Transfer News: Luis Alberto To Join Iago Aspas At Anfield?

Echo. The Reds have already agreed a deal "in principle" for Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas, 25, for £7.7 million and his move to Anfield will be complete once the necessary paperwork is filled in. And now manager Brendan Rodgers is on the verge of completing his second summer signing after immediately turning his attentions to Alberto. Liverpool have moved to the front of the que for the youngster's services after Barcelona failed to take up the option to make his loan move permanent after he made 38 appearances for their B team last season. That has paved the way for the Northern Irishman, who is a long-term admirer of the player, to make a £6 million move and bring him to Anfield. Alberto has been on the Red's radar ever since Rafael Benitez' reign as manager and is deployed mostly on the wing, though took up a more advanced position as a striker during his brief stint in Catalonia. He netted 11 goals last term and provided 17 assists, and looks set to become just the latest exciting young talent to move to Merseyside following the signing of midfielder Philippe Coutinho, 21, in January this year.
