Liverpool Transfer News: Reds And Spurs Battle For Christian Eriksen

Daily Star, Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen is holding talks with both Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, potentially triggering a transfer war between the two English Premier League clubs. The Denmark international has reportedly been a long-term target for both sides and it now appears as though they are prepared to get serious in their attempts to sign him. Eriksen's agent Martin Schoots has spoken openly about the fact that his client is holding discussions with clubs over a possible move away as his contract enters the last 12 months. Schoots has told Sporten.dk:

We are still keeping in touch with certain clubs. That will always be the case with a player like Christian. At this point, it is hard to tell if it will end up with a transfer.
Eriksen is an attacking playmaker who has scored 3 goals in 34 international appearances, having made his debut in 2010 at the tender age of 18 - making him the fourth youngest Danish international of all time. With Liverpool having just missed out on the signing of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who has instead opted to sign for Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund, they appear to need Eriksen more - Tottenham already have the likes of Gareth Bale, Aaron Lennon, Lewis Holtby, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Clint Dempsey in attacking midfield and are in need of a striker more than anything else.
