Liverpool Transfer News: Simon Mignolet Wanted At Anfield As Pepe Reina Replacement?
Mail Online, Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has put Liverpool on red alert after admitting he wouldn't relish another season of relegation struggle. Mignolet, 24, is being viewed as a potential replacement at Anfield for Spanish goalkeeper Pepe Reina who is rumoured to be joining Barcelona this summer. Belgian international stopper Mignolet is Sunderlands number one choice but after The Wearsiders finished 17th and just three-points clear of relegation, the Black Cats 'keeper has no fancy for a repeat situation. He was in goal for every single game for Sunderland last season but when asked on international duty this week about a potential move away from the club, Mignolet replied cautiously, hinting at a desire for pastures new;
"I am ambitious, and I read the press as you do." It has been a difficult season with Sunderland. In February this year, Manchester United were reported as keeping an eye on the keeper and are yet to make an official bid.
