Club: Porto The Porto striker, who impressed at the World Cup with some good performances before his Colombia team crashed out, has long been linked with a move to Anfield, after apparently holding talks with the club two years ago. Now though, with two years left on his deal in Portugal, there is some confusion over his availability, and the player has admitted that he is in the dark on his future. If Brendan Rodgers chooses to reinvigorate his interest in the striker - as has been suggested in the media since the departure of Luis Suarez was widely accepted - he would not come cheaply, but Liverpool have a significant amount of money to play with, so his £35m release clause might not be as lofty as it would have looked without that cash injection. And of course high quality strikers cost a lot. Martinez would be a different prospect to Suarez, and indeed some of the other players on this list, primarily because he is only a goal-scorer. But even with Rodgers' obvious attraction to signing players who can play in multiple positions, or at least take on different roles, his acquisition of Rickie Lambert seems to suggest some movement on that mentality, and Martinez would be a great option for an out-and-out striker to increase the options up front.
