The summer of 2013 has seen the out-of-favour Aston Villa frontman linked with countless clubs, among them
Fulham.
Stoke,
Crystal Palace,
Newcastle, and many more. It's easy to see why. Despite being out of favour at Villa Park, the stocky Englishman had an
impressive record at Sunderland, netting 24 league goals in 2009-10 alone. He's also 29 years old, and should be theoretically at the peak of his career at this point in time. However, given his recent lack of game time or goals, it's unlikely the Kop will see him as the big-ticket replacement for Luis Suarez should he grace the pitch in Liverpool colours. He's also unproven with any of the Top 4 clubs, and as Demba Ba is starting to prove, being good at a top club is a far greater challenge than being good for a run-of-the-mill Premier League outfit. Nevertheless, he could prove to be a decent replacement for the Uruguayan should Rodgers see fit to express an interest in the want-away Villa man.
