Liverpool Transfers: 5 Forwards Who Could Help Gain Champions League Football

4. David Villa

Barcelona's David Villa has also been linked with a move to Arsenal recently, and both the Gunners and Liverpool are believed to want the Spaniard on loan this January. However, both have been told that Villa is not for loan, and that they will have to stump up £16 million if they want to land the former Valencia player. Villa would be the ideal signing for Liverpool as he would easily slot into Rodgers preferred 4-3-3 formation having played on the left in the past for both Barcelona and Spain. He would also bring with him reams of experience, having won the World Cup and European Championship with Spain as well as the Champions League with Barcelona. Quite whether Rodgers would be prepared to pay £16 million for a player who is 31 and has just returned from a broken leg remains to be seen. Source(s): Daily Mail
