Liverpool fans have been saying it since 1990, but this upcoming season could genuinely be their year.

During the second half of the 2017/18 season they looked simply phenomenal. Their front line of Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane were unstoppable as an attacking force, and Virgil van Dijk brought an organisation to their back line alongside the best defender in the world in Dejan Lovren.

They finished fourth in the Premier League, with Salah winning the Golden Boot after scoring a record 32 league goals in a season, and also made it to the Champions League final via dominant performances against the likes of Manchester City and Roma...then Loris Karius happened.

Nevertheless, ahead of the start of the Premier League season next Friday, they look the most likely side to challenge Manchester City for the title.

New signings Alisson, Xherdan Shaqiri, Nabi Keita and Fabinho are all fantastic additions to the squad but there's still room for Jurgen Klopp to bring new faces to Anfield before the season starts. Perhaps by signing some of these players, this will finally be their year...

5. Paolo Dybala (Juventus)

As if Liverpool needed any more of an attacking threat, they were instantly linked with Dybala the moment Cristiano Ronaldo completed his sensational move to Juventus.

The Old Lady's books need to be balanced and with Ronaldo inevitably making it all about him in Turin, the Argentinian may be tempted by a move to Anfield with the promise of a starring role.

Despite a price tag rumoured to be around £80m, Dybala would be worth every penny. He has played an integral role for Juventus in recent seasons; scoring 23 goals and providing seven assists in 37 appearances last season, leading to a league and cup double for the Italian giants.

Liverpool fans showed typical restraint when they were first linked with the 24-year-old, with one fan tweeting:-

"Salah, Firmino, Mane, Fabinho, Keita, Shaqiri, Dybala, and possibly Fekir…We'd do the quadruple."
