Liverpool Transfers: 7 Players To Make Rodgers' Reds Champions

7. Will Hughes - Derby County

Okay, so this particular player contradicts everything that I've said in the introduction but there is no denying he is a sensational talent. At 18 years old, Hughes has made 22 league appearances out of 23 for Derby this season and has looked impressive in almost all of them. With a plethora of reports linking the England Under-21 international with a move to Anfield, this move is perhaps the most likely to happen out of the seven. Best known as a flair midfielder with great technical abilities, Hughes provides something new in the strong Liverpool midfield and should be seen as a definite purchase. Granted, the central midfield position is one of the strongest areas for Liverpool at the minute, but Hughes would add both depth and cover for the current starters. With Lucas and Gerrard proving injury-prone in the past, Hughes and Henderson would make a promising pairing in the middle - a pairing which could be utilised by Roy Hodgson in the future. And with Gerrard's advancing age, Liverpool will no doubt be looking for a new talent to fill the very heavy shoes which will be left by his future retirement. Hughes may not be a signing who proves key to Liverpool's title run this season, but he would be a solid investment adding both potential and depth to an already strong midfield. And at just 18 years old, the world is Will Hughes' oyster, and should Liverpool manage to beat his other suggested suitors to sign the Englishman, that would certainly be a feather in Rodgers' cap.
