Liverpool vs Man Utd - 5 Key Battles

5. Daniel Sturridge vs. David De Gea

Daniel Sturridge has looked like a new man since joining Brendan Rodgers' side from league rivals Chelsea, and scored his first league goal for the club against United in their Old Trafford fixture last season. With 15 goals in 19 appearances, the England forward may cause the United centre backs a few problems with his pace and skill, but the most interesting battle will be between himself and the United 'keeper, David De Gea. Sturridge turns 24 on Sunday and would love nothing more than to steer his Merseyside club to victory with a contribution of his own. Standing in his way will be Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea who has slowly become one of the greatest goalkeepers in the league. His spell at the club started with some questionable performances, but he has improved leaps and bounds since then and the battle between himself and Sturridge will be one to watch. De Gea has conceded just one in the two opening fixtures this season and with the Spaniard between the sticks, it'll be tough for Liverpool to grab some much-needed goals. If Sturridge can show the sort of form he has shown thusfar during his spell at Liverpool, it could be a long day for the Spaniard. However it could be tough to break down the United defence and get past a very solid goalkeeper in De Gea.
