Liverpool's 10 Greatest Champions League Victories

3. Barcelona 1-2 Liverpool (2007)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-Qg8SmS-pI Camp Nou is arguably the most daunting away ground to visit in Europe, and it is very unlikely you will come away from the magnificent arena with anything other than a defeat. When Liverpool were drawn against them in the last-16 in 2006/07, the odds were, for that reason given, stacked against them. The Catalan side had Lionel Messi, Ronaldinho, Deco, Xavi, Andres Iniesta and a numerous other star names in their ranks, and it seemed hard to imagine the Reds stopping them. Things didn't start well for Benitez and his side, and when Deco planted a terrific header past Reina, it looked a long way back for them. They managed to ride the storm somewhat though, and slowly began to grow in confidence. They equalised before half-time, as Craig Bellamy's header was clumsily carried over the line by Victor Valdes. His infamous golf swing celebration was in relation to an incident involving himself and John Arne Riise, in which the Welshman had hit the Norwegian with a golf club following an argument. In the second-half, it was Riise who proved to be the hero on the night. After Kuyt had seemingly blown the chance to make it 2-1 after a heavy touch, the ball eventually fell to the left-back, who thundered a strike past Valdes. The Reds held on to secure arguably their greatest ever away win in the Champions League. Despite losing the second-leg 1-0 at Anfield, they progressed on away goals.
