Man City 0-1 Chelsea - 5 Things We Learned

5. The Premier League Isn't The One Horse Race We All Thought It Was

For a long time this season, Manchester City have been most people's favourites to win the Premier League. City have demolished the likes of Manchester United, Tottenham (twice) and Arsenal with resounding wins and before last night were undefeated on home soil. They have also scored an astonishing 68 league goals as their attacking force of Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Alvaro Negredo hit all opposition for six. And, following their win over title rivals Liverpool in December, Manuel Pellegrini's side were made odds-on favourites to win the league. However, we may now have to re-evaluate that with Chelsea showing they are more than capable of mounting a challenge and Arsenal remaining top of the pile. The Gunners have been consistent this season, with inconsistency often being their Achilles heel in seasons gone by, and are still plugging away and rattling off wins. Chelsea meanwhile have the best defence in the Premier League and have now beaten City twice this season, home and away, and certainly look like capable contenders. This title race is far from the one horse race many believed it to be but a couple of months ago and could yet go to the wire.
