Man City 3-0 Swansea - Samir Nasri Scores Twice To Sink Swans

Samir Nasri struck twice as Manchester City beat Swansea to preserve their 100% home record in the Premier League. A further goal from Alvaro Negredo secured victory, to keep intact the Citizen's record of being the only side in England€™s top four divisions not to have lost on home soil. Having prevailed 6-0 in their previous game against Tottenham, the question was not whether City would win, but how many they would win by, and that feeling was felt keenly when Negredo opened the scoring after just seven minutes. The Spaniard drew a clumsy challenge from Jose Canas on the edge of the penalty area and there was little questioning who would take the free-kick, as the forward stepped up to belt his effort into the bottom corner of Gerhard Tremmel€™s goal. Nasri then ended the game as a contest in the second half, slotting past Tremmel after 58 minutes after being played in by a marauding Yaya Toure, before side-footing home the third from a Pablo Zabaleta cross. Visiting Swansea were up against it from the first whistle, stripped of key players such as Michu and Wilfried Bony, and their absences told as it was ultimately up to Jonjo Shelvey to carry much of the Swans€™ attacking threat. Shelvey looked the most likely to get his side back into the game, drawing two good saves from City€™s Costel Pantillimon, who regained his place in goal in favour of Joe Hart. First, the former Liverpool star saw his rising effort batted out after 13 minutes, before fizzing a 40-yard effort on target three minutes later, which Pantillimon got a glove on. You could sense Swansea were starting to grow into the game, and the scores might even have been level at half time. A cutting Shelvey through-ball found Jonathan de Guzman, who dodged a Martin Demichelis challenge, took a touch when one-on-one with Pantillimon, but blazed his effort over the bar as the interval loomed. That would be the closest Swansea would come to a leveller as City blew their opponents away with a dominant second half performance. Aguero headed goalwards but was cautioned for handball, before Negredo got on the end of a Fernandinho flick-on, but could only head over from five yards. The second goal wasn't far away however, and Nasri made the game safe, before adding a touch of gloss late on to secure another impressive home performance that sends the home side third.
