Man City 4-2 Watford - 5 Things We Learned From FA Cup Thriller

1. The Magic Of The FA Cup Is Alive And Well

For one full hour at Etihad Stadium on Saturday, it looked as though we would bear witness to one of the truly great giant slayings in FA Cup history. The unfancied Watford, languishing in the Championship, against Champions League contenders Manchester City - ahead of kick-off, it looked like a heck of a mismatch. But the Hornets shocked everyone and took a 2-0 lead into the break and though they could not hold on to the advantage, proved the magic of the FA Cup is alive and well. Wigan stunned the footballing world when they defeated City to win the FA Cup last May and Watford proved again here that is isn't impossible for the underdogs to prevail over the 'bigger clubs'. It didn't quite happen this time, but City's wobble will give other lowly sides confidence that 'cupsets' can happen at just about any stage.
