Man City Transfer News: Citizens Told To Improve Bid For Alvaro Negredo

Daily Star. Sevilla are hoping to hold out and cash in on their prized asset before allowing him to leave for the Premier League. Reports in Spain suggest last season's Premier League runners up have failed with a £20 million bid for the 27-year-old, with the president of Sevilla, Del Nido, reported as saying recently:

"With Negredo there has been progress but we are far from reaching an agreement. Right now it's further away than it was at the time with Atletico Madrid. "Sevilla have put an evaluation on Negredo and either Sevilla are paid what they're asking for or he stays for another three years."
However, Del Nido refused to disclose the market value slapped on the Spain international's head.
"I'm not saying the price that's been put on him. The ideal thing would be that he remains in Sevilla and renews for another two years. "We are in no hurry. We are in a better situation than a month ago and we've shown that with the signings that we've made."
City's interest in Negredo comes as they missed out on Edinson Cavani, who is bound for a move to French champions Paris Saint-Germain. The Citizens are looking to bolster their attack for next season having sold Carlos Tevez to Juventus this summer. Manuel Pellegrini has reportedly had a £23.3 million bid for Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetic agreed, as we reported earlier today. Now the Chilean wants to wrap up a deal for Negredo, whose 24 goals made him Spain's fourth-highest goalscorer last season, behind only Radamel Falcao, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Meanwhile, South African media have been poking fun at City following their 2-0 defeat to Supersport United in Pretoria on Sunday.
