Man City Transfer News: Daniele De Rossi To Eithad For £25 million?

Manchester City's baron transfer season could be about to end as Roma accept that they may have to sell for the survival of the club.

After a relatively quiet summer so far, by Manchester City's busy standards, it appears the drought is over and the flood of activity looks set to commence, after Italian giants Roma admitted that they will allow midfielder Daniele De Rossi to leave this summer if he so wishes to. City boss Roberto Mancini has been a long term admirer of the tenacious tackler and has in the past seen bids rejected from Roma in previous transfer windows. City then watched on as De Rossi penned a new deal at the Stadio Olympico in February this year and all chance of a transfer appeared dead and buried - until now. The admission by Roma Sporting Director Walter Sabatini that should De Rossi approach the hierarchy at the club and ask for a move, or should the club be offered an amount they cannot refuse, the club would 'talk about it' with De Rossi. Sabatini also went on to fuel rumours more by conceding that the movement of players may be necessary for the survival of the club, and following the high profile departures of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva from Serie A already this summer, there is growing scepticism as to whether the Italian top flight can really attract and retain top talent. This admission is sure to reignite interest from City, who will be keen to add De Rossi to the squad to replace the outgoing Nigel De Jong who is set to join Inter Milan in the next few weeks. As for a price, the Eastlands club will be keen to avoid spending more than necessary with the incoming Financial Fair Play rules coming into force, but with still 4 and half years left on his current contract, anything less than £25 million would be optimistic. De Rossi himself is believed to be more open about linking up with Roberto Mancini than he was earlier in the year when he was reluctant to move his family away from the Italian capital.
