5. Karim Benzema
Manchester City
have been linked with the 25-year old France international this summer and
were also thought to be in the hunt for his signature a year ago, too. Benzema scored 12 La Liga goals last season and Pellegrini knows all about the striker having managed him at the Bernabeu following his transfer from Lyon in 2009. The marksman was especially prolific in the 2011/2012 season when he managed to net 32 times in 52 appearances and though the goals weren't as free-flowing last term, that has not prevented him from being linked with a £38 million move to the Etihad as a direct replacement for Tevez. The Frenchman could forge an interesting partnership with fellow countryman Samri Nasri in City's attack next season, and if he can replicate his goal-scoring heroics from two seasons ago, he'd be a terrific signing for the club.
