The Colombian had been linked with a move to a number of Europe's biggest and richest clubs with Premier League moneybags Chelsea and Manchester City both believed to have been interested at one stage, and though a transfer to a cash-rich club was always probable, very few ever suspected it would be Monaco to procure his talents. Bankrolled by Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev, the newly-promoted Ligue 1 outfit have the most ambitious of plans and have already burned through £60 million on Porto duo Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez. Falcao appears to be the jewel in the crown however, and it certainly leaves City's noses out of joint. The deposed Premier League champions had been hoping to add the former Porto man to their ranks this summer in a bid to reclaim the league title and the Citizens were one of only a few clubs who could realistically afford the £50 million-valued Falcao.
