Man City vs Norwich – 5 Key Tactical Battles That Could Decide The Game
5. Sergio Aguero vs Michael Turner
Lethal Argentina international Aguero had midweek off as Pellegrini rested City's top scorer for the trip to Newcastle. He should return to terrorize the Norwich defence. Former Hull City centre back Turner is his likely marker. Clean sheets are few and far between for the East Anglia outfit. The Canaries have kept just three shutouts from a dozen games in league and cup. In the calendar year of 2013 they've managed a mere nine. Those dismal defensive stats show no sign of improving when you consider Aguero has scored five times in his last three matches. Many of these goals have come when he pops up in the left channel. It's the space down defender Turner's right that the Norwich man will have to be wary of. He can expect little help from fullback either as Russell Martin will have his hands full, but we'll come onto that. Aguero cannot be left to his own devices at set pieces either. He got the jump on a decent West Ham defence a fortnight ago to convert a near post free kick. Danger comes to the Canaries, then, from every situation. Given their contrasting forms it's very difficult indeed to make a case for Turner keeping Aguero quiet. The Norwich defence must be alert at all times to have any chance.
