Manchester Uniteds Ezekiel Fryers has failed to agree a contract extension at Old Trafford, which has sparked huge interest from Premier League clubs. The 19-year-old defender has turned down a new £1,500-a-week contract extension, which has increased interest from Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur. Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has expressed interest in the full-back whilst Spurs look to challenge their current defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto by adding more competition to the squad. Fryers was part of the FA Youth Cup team back in 2011 and managed to make two appearances for Man United last season. Fryers could of made more of an impact next season for the club, but Sir Alex Ferguson refuses to hand out huge contracts to youth players. Fryers could become the latest defender to leave Manchester United, with Ravel Morrison being sold to West Ham and Paul Pogba perhaps set for Juventus. Manchester United fans may boast about the youth of United, but if things continue Sir Alex may start to lose more youth talent and find himself spending a considerable amount more in the transfer window on replacements, something the club cannot do.
