2. The Fans Must Keep Faith
Now that the bedrock of everything that is great and romantic about Manchester United is riding off into the sunset, this may seem like the end of an era of dominance in the eyes of some anxious ranks in the United faithful. Though the Ferguson era is now coming to a close, it does not mean that the accolades will, all of a sudden, dry up.As Ferguson has always insisted, no man is bigger than any football club, and United must persist in moving forward as fresh challenges arise. No doubt, the first few months will be difficult for everyone to adjust to, but there is no reason why the honours haul discontinue under the stewardship of Moyes. The future looks bright in the academy set-up, with some promising players coming through such as Adnan Januzaj, Jesse Lingard, and Ryan Tunnicliffe. These players could go on to form the foundations of the club for years to come, and with plenty of young players already excelling in the limelight, it would be foolish for anybody to reach for the panic button just yet. Additionally, the current first-team squad, though in need a tweak here and there, is primed and ready to challenge for major silverware. In Robin Van Persie, United are blessed with one of the most naturally gifted strikers in the modern game, and, providing if Wayne Rooney stays, the goals will continue to come in abundance. Further down the spine of the team, Michael Carrick is playing at the peak of his powers, whilst Phil Jones, Johnny Evans, and David De Gea are coming on leaps and bounds. A special mention also needs to be given to Rafeal, who looks set to be one of the finest full-backs in the world after a magnificent season in which he has matured no end. Taking these things into account, it is clear that Moyes will be left with rich resources to begin his new campaign, and it is certain that he will finally be given the opportunity to spend some serious money in the transfer market by the owners. In order for United to continue to be prestigious on and off the pitch, the Glazers and the newly appointed CEO Clive Woodward will no doubt give their new manager the funds necessary to make an addition here or there, with the midfield still crying for some extra quality and a new left-back also required.
