Man Utd: 5 Reasons David Moyes Won’t Be Able To Save Champions’ Season

2. The Summer Transfer Market Was An Embarrassment

I think we all have to admit that something went seriously wrong during the summer. A fair few players were chased, but the quality additions that the team needed failed to arrive. The one notable player that was signed was Marouane Fellaini, and to date he has only played a small part despite the high transfer fee. Some may give the lack of new arrivals a reason to be more patient with Moyes this season. However, it's worth remembering that was largely his fault as it's not as if he wouldn't have been backed to bring quality in. It's also worth noting that he is working with essentially the same squad that comfortably won last season's Premier League title. There was plenty of good business done in the EPL over the summer, and United's rivals all did better business giving their teams' fresh emphasis. I can't remember a previous time when Man Utd would have looked so second best in the transfer market and that in itself is a big worry.
