Man Utd: 5 Reasons Fans Should Be Optimistic About The Season Ahead

5. The Youngsters

David Moyes is yet to make his first proper signing for his new club (right-back Guillermo Varela is expected to be loaned out). But that does not mean he has no new players he can blend into the first team. Sir Alex left Moyes with one final signing in the form of Wilfried Zaha, the tricky winger previously of Crystal Palace. A man-of-the-match performance in last season's Championship play-off final and an impressive pre-season will surely improve on the faulty form we saw of Nani, Young and Valencia last season. Danny Welbeck, of course, is still only a young lad and will hope to improve on his goalscoring record this term. A disappointing stat of just one goal in the Premier League last season overshadowed his overall performances which, on occasion (vs Real Madrid), were top class. Then we have the two prospects United fans are dying to see more of. After impressive pre-season performances, in which they both out-shone the real stars of the team, Jesse Lingard and Adnan Januzaj may be limited to Carling Cup games and the odd substitute appearance. But the maturity and confidence both have shown playing in the first team is a real bonus to David Moyes, giving him more options should he choose to put his faith in them. With the desire of United over the years to bring players through their academy, the potential of these players is a real treat for the fans.
