Man Utd: 5 Reasons Why Javier Hernandez Must Be Content With Being A Super Sub

4. Takes Advantage Of Tired Legs

The most obvious positive with Hernandez is how useful a player with pace like his can be when the opposition are tiring. Hernandez is full of energy, and is always a willing runner which can open up defences late in games. As he's a player primarily looking to break the offside trap and get himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper, he forces defenders to drop deeper as to not leave space in behind for the striker to run into - which in itself affords more of the ball on to the attacking side. When looking through the archives, so many of his goals come from a lack of concentration from the opposing defence in the final stages of a match - due to a player being physically and mentally exhausted. As Hernandez is a poacher, his role is to be the player who reacts the quickest in the box in any given situation, and being the most fresh on the pitch gives him an advantage others do not have in the latter stages.
