Man Utd Dream XI For The Premier League Opener

Luke Shaw - Left-Back

This one may have been slightly more debatable had Patrice Evra not joined Juventus earlier this week. Up until that point, it was uncertain who Louis van Gaal would prefer at left-back - the up-and-coming Shaw or the more experienced Evra. Now it's not a question. Evra has gone and Shaw looks all set to take his place immediately. Signed from Southampton for £27 million at the end of June, the teenager is the fourth-most expensive defender in the history of world football and big things are expected of the rookie as he prepares for the challenge of living up to his price tag in his debut season at the club. Some questioned the size of the fee United paid for the 19-year-old but one thing is certain - he has an amazingly bright future. Will United sign another fullback as cover? Maybe. Shaw is currently the club's only left-back following the departure of Alexander Buttner. Even if a new recruit does come in, however, I'd expect Shaw to start against Swansea.
